Guaraguaçu Ecological Road

Walking or cycling along the Guaraguaçu Ecological Road means witnessing the meeting of the Atlantic Forest with the history of the first peoples who lived in the region. The road leads to the Sambaqui, passing by the Guarani M’Byá indigenous community. The Sambaqui do Guaraguaçu has been a protected heritage site since 1982, listed by the Historical and Cultural Heritage Office of the Paraná State Department of Culture.

(1) Sambaquis: in Tupi-Guarani, it means “heap of shells”, where bones and other prehistoric remains can also be found.
